Shhhh, not so loud, you'll scare it! Spring is here, or hadn't you noticed? After a morning spent on pooper-scooper detail, I'm inclined to think we're at least getting close and you know what that means - Spring Butterdome!! So, get ahead of your spring chores and come on out to the Butterdome Spring Craft Sale on the U of A campus May 2, 3 & 4, 2014. Drop by the booth to check out the new work, it would be great to see you!

Gadzooks! My how time flies when you're having fun! The summer passed in a flurry of new pots - squared mugs & bowls, larger honey jars - tomatoes and dill (no wonder they call it a weed). The fall season brought an invitation to teach a couple of pottery classes out at the Fort Saskatchewan Potter's Guild and, of course, the fall shows are starting too. No wonder I need a nap or perhaps, a glass of wine...

Here is the fall show calender:

Our Best to You - Red Deer, AB
October 25, 26, 27

Sundog Arts & Crafts Faire - Saskatoon, SK
Nov. 29, 30 & Dec. 1

Butterdome - Edmonton, AB
Dec. 5, 6, 7, 8

The grass is riz? Hmmm, I suppose that depends on which part of the country you're in, although with the warm weather the past couple of days I do have hope the garden will get in before July. In the meantime, things have been steaming right along in the studio and there will be some new forms - pie plates, butter/cheese bells, tulip vases - at the coming craft shows, starting with the spring Butterdome sale next week here in Edmonton and then rolling back home to Winnipeg for the Folk Fest in July. Hope to see you soon and good luck with your gardens! Now, if I can only keep our kitty out of the tomato seedlings...

Spring Butterdome Sale: May 3, 4 & 5 Edmonton, AB

Winnipeg Folk Festival: July 10 - 14 Bird's Hill Park, MB

Well, now that the fall shows are over, its time to tuck in for a long winter's sleep and studio maintenance! Nothing says "holiday" quite like cleaning kiln shelves, doing inventory and the annual Christmas cull of wobbly, slightly warped pots - its hammer time, minus the weird pants. Those of you old enough to understand that obscure reference should immediately go and reward yourselves with a nice holiday treat. Anyway, thanks very much to everyone who came out to the craft shows, braving the wild weather and taking the time to stop by the booth for a visit and to add to your collections. Have a wonderful holiday season and a happy and prosperous New Year!

Sorry to disappoint those of you who were headed to the Our Best to You Show in Regina this weekend to add to your collections at my booth, but I will not be able to make it to the show due to the weather conditions here at home and, as it turns out, across most of the province and heading your way, Saskatchewan. A little weather doesn't usually put me off, but when it took 2 hours to go from 64 Ave. to 90 Ave this morning, I decided to start paying attention to the province wide weather report and started phoning friends for the road reports. After watching smaller vehicles slide their way back down the hill in front of me, I decided, once up the hill, to turn back for home and am happy to report, made it back only an hour later. Total round trip time - 3 hours and to put it in perspective, I should have been through Lloydminster and well on my way to the Battlefords by then. Well, such is life on the Prairies! Hopefully, the weather will behave itself at the end of the month and I will see you all at Sundog in Saskatoon on Nov. 30, Dec. 1 & 2 and/or at the Butterdome here in Edmonton Dec. 6 - 9.

Now that I'm out from under the tyranny of zucchini and that dumptruck full of tomatoes and potatoes that just came out of the garden, we have a little catching up do do, yes? I was just out in Yorkton for the Sunflower craft fair, so many thanks to all of you who stopped by the booth for a visit and to add to your collections.

The fall 2012 show schedule is as follows, and to the lady from the Regina area, who I am replacing a large nesting bowl for, could you please get in touch? I put your contact information in a safe spot - a really safe spot, because I can't find it - and would like to get your new bowl to you!

Our Best to You - Red Deer: October 26 - 28, 2012
Our Best to You - Regina: November 9 - 11, 2012
Sundog Craft Faire - Saskatoon: November 30, December 1 & 2, 2012
Butterdome - Edmonton: December 6 - 9, 2012

Well, the process of making pots on the wheel is called 'throwing' and that is what I've been up to, despite a rash of injuries, but there has been time to get up to other things in the studio too - a little bit of this, a little bit of that and a little bit of the other.... Not to worry though, the Stoneboat line of lovelies is doing well, and if you like, you could drop by the booth at the Spring Butterdome Sale in Edmonton on May 4 through 6. If you're up for "the other", drop by the Alberta Craft Council Gallery May 1 through 30 to see my feature window display of definitely different ware. There is a reception on Thursday evening, May 3, 6 - 8 p.m., so feel free to pop by! The Craft Council is located at 10186 - 106 Street in downtown Edmonton.
